The KeepSafe^TM engine is designed to protect mail you're likely to want to keep. You review and confirm every cleanup before anything is removed — nothing is deleted without your confirmation. You also choose whether a cleanup goes to Trash or is deleted permanently.

If you chose delete to Trash, the mail is in your Yahoo Trash and you restore it from Yahoo Mail itself, on Yahoo's terms and timing. If you chose delete permanently, it is gone. Mailroom has no restore button, deliberately — what happens after a delete depends on things we don't control, and a button that can't keep its promise is worse than no button. Mailroom shows you what was removed; recovery, where it exists, lives in your mailbox.

On your own device. Mailroom connects directly to your mailbox from your device and does its work locally — it doesn't route your mailbox through a server to be read.

You buy inside the app, not on this website. Download Mailroom, connect your mailbox, run a free scan, and clear a first slice on the free trial. When you're ready, the purchase is initiated on your request from inside the app and opens your browser to Stripe, our secure payment provider; the licence then activates on that machine. The pricing page shows the tiers; there is no purchase flow on this site.

You connect using an app password from your email provider. The app walks you through where to find it and how to enter it — it only takes a moment.

Mailroom is a desktop app for Windows and Linux. You download and install it, then connect your mailbox.

That is expected for a new publisher. Windows shows “Windows protected your PC” because SmartScreen trusts publishers by reputation, and a new one earns that only as installs accumulate. Every Mailroom release is code-signed with a standard OV certificate issued to Mailroom-LTD, so the permission prompt names us as the publisher; the warning is about how few machines have seen the file, not about anything found inside it. Almost certainly a false alarm — and here is how to check, rather than take our word for it.

We virus-scan every release we publish, and the download page lists each file's hash so you can confirm the file on your disk is the one we built. What Defender is reacting to is not something it found inside the file. Windows gives new files from small publishers a low reputation score simply because it has not seen them on many machines yet, and its machine-learning filter sometimes rounds that up to “might be a threat” — usually under a generic name such as Wacatac or Wacapew. It tends to happen to each new build for a while, then lift as more people install it. When it happens, we submit the build to Microsoft for review, which is how these flags get cleared.

What to do:
1. Check the file. Compare its hash with the one on the download page. If they match, you have our file.
2. Allow it. Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history → open the Mailroom entry → Actions → Allow (or Restore, if it was quarantined). Then run the installer again.
3. Or wait. Download again in a few days — by then the flag has usually lifted. Email us and we will tell you when it has.

Never switch your antivirus off for us — we will never ask you to. Every release is already code-signed by Mailroom-LTD; what clears these flags for good is reputation, which each build earns as more people install it. Submitting every flag to Microsoft is how we speed that up.

Because the mail is almost certainly still sitting in your Yahoo Trash.

When Mailroom asks where a cleanup should go, the default is Move to Trash — the safer choice, because you can still put anything back. But Yahoo keeps counting messages in Trash against your storage until the Trash is emptied, so the meter does not move straight away. Mailroom deliberately does not empty your Trash for you: it only ever touches the mail you reviewed.

To see the space come back now, open Yahoo Mail, find Trash in the folder list on the left, use its Empty Trash control (it appears when you hover over the folder), and confirm. Yahoo also empties Trash on its own after a while, and its storage meter can take a few minutes to catch up — if nothing has changed, refresh the page and look again.

If you would rather skip the Trash step next time, choose Permanent delete when Mailroom asks. It cannot be undone — which is exactly why it is not the default.

You can open the app and review your last scan offline. Running a new scan or a cleanup needs an internet connection — both to reach your mailbox over IMAP and to validate your licence.

Mailroom checks for updates and, when one is available, opens the download in your browser. You install the update yourself — the app never replaces itself silently.

Saving your password is optional. If you do, it's stored in your operating system's secure credential store, encrypted by the OS and kept local to your device. It's never sent to Mailroom.

Uninstall Mailroom from Windows like any other app. Your local scan data is kept on your device unless you choose to remove it.
